KUSA - There was a “busy traffic situation” headed into the foothills Tuesday due to a car fire on westbound Interstate 70 that caused troopers to divert traffic onto C-470.

The highway has since reopened.

Colorado State Patrol tweeted about the situation just before 12:10 p.m. Video from 9NEWS traffic cameras in the area showed major backups. I-70 reopened in the area at around 1 p.m.

The vehicle fire occurred at Lookout Mountain, CDOT tweeted.

It’s unclear if anyone was hurt.
