Car ends up on bike path after 2-vehicle wreck near Colorado Convention Center

The northbound lanes of the Cherry Creek Trail are closed near the Colorado Convention Center after a two-vehicle crash.

DENVER — At least one person was injured after a crash that sent a vehicle off the road and onto the Cherry Creek Trail on Wednesday morning. 

The two-vehicle wreck was reported at about 5:45 a.m. near the intersection of Speer Boulevard and Champa Street in downtown Denver.

One of the vehicles involved ended up on the Cherry Creek Bike Path. The other vehicle sustained front-end damage and came to a rest on the side of Speer Boulevard. 

The Denver Police Department (DPD) has not said what led up to the collision. 

Northbound Speer Boulevard is closed at Stout Street, and vehicles are being redirected onto Champa Street. The northbound lanes of the Cherry Creek Trail are closed as well. Southbound lanes of the bike path are not being impacted at this time. 

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
