It's June 18 and Denver has yet to record a temperature of 90 degrees at Denver International Airport.
The closest we've come was 86 degrees, on June 13th.
In fact, this month has been just slightly below average as a whole, down about 1.7 degrees from what's considered "normal."
We talked to David Barjenbruch, a meteorologist for the National Weather Center in Boulder. He said the average date of the first 90-degree day in Denver is June 10, and in a typical summer, we hit the 90-degree mark or higher 38 days (based on the 30-year average from 1981-2010.)
Compare this year to 2018 and it's a very different story. By June 18 last year, Denver already had 15 days in the 90s. Summer 2018 went on to be the fourth- highest summer for reaching 90 degrees — after 59 days.
When is the latest date Denver has seen a 90-degree day? July 21, 1967. That year was also the fewest 90 degree days Denver has seen, with only four.
Top five latest first 90-degree days:
July 21, 1967
July 12, 1904
July 8, 1972
July 8, 1912
July 7, 1885
So when could we see 90s in our forecast? Our 7-Day forecast doesn't have any 90s, but looking at bit farther out, there is potential for high upper 80s by next Wednesday and Thursday.
