Snow, colder weather to impact Colorado this evening

A cold front moved into the area Tuesday night, snow is on the way for Wednesday evening.

COLORADO, USA — FORECAST BY METEOROLOGIST: Laurann Robinson

TODAY AT A GLANCE: A cold front moved into the area Tuesday night, bringing cooler temperatures behind it. Highs are expected to max out in the upper 30s, which is over 20 degrees colder than what we enjoyed Monday and Tuesday.

Snow is on the way for Wednesday evening, bringing 2 to 5 inches of snowfall for the Denver metro area. Heavier accumulations are expected in the high country, foothills, and western suburbs. 

A Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 5 p.m. Wednesday until 6 a.m. Thursday for the northern front range foothills, Boulder and the western Denver suburbs. These areas can expect 3 to 7 inches of new snowfall, causing hazardous travel conditions. 

Snow showers could linger into early Thursday morning, then becoming mostly sunny by midday. Clear skies and cooler weather with highs in the upper 30s Thursday afternoon. Afternoon highs will climb into the low 40s Friday and Saturday. We have a slight chance for light snow showers Saturday, before highs drop back into the upper 30s Sunday.

WEDNESDAY: Increasing clouds throughout the day, with scattered snow showers developing in the evening. 2-5" possible by midday Thursday.  Morning lows from 17 to 22, afternoon highs from 35 to 41.

THURSDAY: Morning clouds and with lingering light snow, midday clearing. Morning lows from 18 to 22, afternoon highs from 33 to 39.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny, cool and breezy. Morning lows from 13 to 18, afternoon highs from 40 to 45.

SATURDAY: Partly cloudy and breezy with light snow developing late in the evening. Morning lows from 17 to 22, afternoon highs from 39 to 45.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and chilly.  Morning lows from 18 to 22, afternoon highs from 35 to 40.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny and breezy. Morning lows from 19 to 21, afternoon highs from 40 to 45.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny and mild. Morning lows from 20 to 25, afternoon highs from 47 to 52.

WEDNESDAY: Partly cloudy and warmer. Morning lows from 23 to 28, afternoon highs from 52 to 57.
