Cooler, unsettled weather moves in for the weekend

DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: Ed Greene

TODAY AT A GLANCE: Our next weather change will begin moving into the state today producing an increase in clouds with showers and a possible thunderstorm by afternoon. A few storms might reach severe levels with gusty winds, hail and maybe even a tornado or two into the evening hours over northeastern portions of the state. 

Light snow could be found at higher elevations above 9000 feet Thursday night into Friday morning. Then another surge of moisture and cooler air moves in with light to moderate snow for the high country above 10,000 feet and a good chance for showers and storms at lower elevations through the weekend. By Monday, we’ll begin to warm up and dry out.

TODAY: Increasing clouds with scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm by afternoon, still mild: high 76; showers and a possible storm tonight, low 49.

FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy with showers and possible storms, high 67; showers and scattered storms overnight, low 43.

SATURDAY: Cloudy and cooler with scattered showers and storms, high 51; scattered showers and storms overnight, low near 40.

SUNDAY: Showers and storms and staying cool, high 58; partly cloudy overnight, low around 40.

MONDAY: Mostly sunny and warmer, high near 70; partly cloudy overnight, low 45.

TUESDAY: Mostly sunny and mild, high 76; partly cloudy overnight, low 49.

WEDNESDAY: Partly cloudy and warm, high around 80; partly cloudy overnight, low 51.
