Light mountain snow tonight and Thursday, sunshine and 60s heading into holiday weekend

No advisories for snow or travel with light mountain snow showers forecast. Lower elevation temperatures will run above average with sunshine and dry weather

DENVER — FORECAST BY: Meteorologist Laurann Robinson

FORECAST AT A GLANCE:  Our warming trend has begun!

Afternoon highs will climb into the lower 50s, Wednesday, then into the 60s through the holiday weekend.

Wednesday, we'll see mostly sunny skies across most of Colorado, with light snow flurries around the central and northern mountain ranges. Highs will remain slightly below-average, peaking in the lower 50s (but this is still a warm-up from the middle 40s we saw Tuesday!).

Wednesday night, we'll stay clear and mild, with lows in the lower 30s (very seasonal for this time of year!).

Thursday, cloud cover starts to build in, along with gusty wind, up to 20 mph around Denver. Despite the partial cloud cover, afternoon highs continue to climb, reaching the lower 60s, across the front range/eastern plains. To the west, light mountain snow showers will continue.

The front range/eastern plains will finally see some moisture by the end of the workweek. Mountain snowfall will increase throughout the day Friday, then push into northern portions of the front range/eastern plains, as scattered rain showers, Friday afternoon through evening. Afternoon highs stay constant, in the lower 60s.

Rain and snow showers dry up by Saturday morning, giving us a beautiful start to our weekend! Saturday, we'll see partly cloudy skies, as highs climb even further, into the middle 60s. We'll watch for slight chances for an isolated rain shower, but most areas will stay dry throughout the day.

Easter Sunday will be warm and spring-like. Any outdoor activities should be planned for the morning to early afternoon hours, as we'll be partly cloudy, dry and warm, with highs in the middle 60s. By Sunday evening, rain showers move in, changing to scattered snow showers, overnight.

Monday, chilly, snowy weather returns. Highs drop nearly 20 degrees, into the middle 40s. We'll watch for scattered snow chances across Colorado.

Soak it up, because cold, wet weather won't last for long. We'll dry out and warm up, again, midweek. Highs bounce back Tuesday, into the middle 50s, before returning to the 60s by next Wednesday.
