COLORADO, USA — Many counties, mostly in southern and southeastern Colorado, have now been placed under a Tornado Watch until 9 p.m. Saturday said the National Weather Service (NWS).
>> The video above is about how Colorado's weekend tornado outbreak last week was not unusual. Here's the science.
The full list of counties under Tornado Watch includes:
- Baca
- Bent
- Cheyenne
- Crowley
- Elbert
- El Paso
- Kiowa
- Las Animas
- Lincoln
- Otero
- Prowers
- Pueblo
The watch also includes parts of Kansas. According to NWS, aside from tornadoes residents in those areas could see scattered wind gusts up to 70 MPH and tennis ball-sized hail.
Close to a million people live in the affected area, according to NWS.
The Tornado Watch comes just a week after a very busy couple of days for tornado activity in Colorado.
Last Saturday and Sunday, NWS said, there were at least 16 different tornadoes in all.
Colorado averages 46 tornadoes a year, the eighth-highest total in the country.
