Sunshine and 60s heading into the holiday weekend

Our next storm system, still sitting off the California coast, will begin to strengthen as it starts to move east.

DENVER — FORECAST BY: Ed Greene

FORECAST AT A GLANCE:  Before the next system arrives, temperatures will be relatively mild as winds become gusty in the foothills and mountains with breezy conditions on the plains. These winds and warmer temperatures may begin to increase the fire danger out on the plains. Late in the day, the first wave of moisture will bring snow showers to the high country with scattered showers and slightly cooler temperatures to the plains on Friday.

Then that storm system begins to move into our home state bringing more snow to the high country, but amounts should remain fairly light. Look for milder weather for Denver and the plains Saturday into Sunday before we see showers develop late Sunday. Cooler highs with rain or snow showers are possible on Monday with a general warm up and fair conditions by midweek.
