DENVER — If you had your eyes to the sky on Wednesday, you might have seen a super unique cloud over the Front Range.
It had almost a corkscrew shape, and was seen everywhere from Boulder to Evergreen to Golden.
We see a lot of weird clouds in Colorado, and this might be one of the most unique in recent memory. 9NEWS Meteorologist and overall smart dude Marty Coniglio had one theory: it’s not a cloud at all.
“I think it’s a contrail that’s been twisted by the gusty westerly wind,” Marty tweeted early Thursday morning – long before the rest of us even have working brain cells.
Since he sits roughly 30 feet away, this intrepid journalist walked across the room for more details.
Basically, Marty said westerly winds tend to move in a circular shape which is capable of twisting contrails in a way similar to what was seen on Wednesday.
Maybe this is where we mention that 9Wants to Know investigated chemtrails, and debunked the conspiracy theory that the government – or some evil shadow organization – is deliberating spraying the skies with harmful chemicals via contrails.
