WESTMINSTER — A two-year-old girl was struck and killed by a truck driven by her mother around 7 a.m. Wednesday morning in Westminster, according to Westminster police.
In a news briefing, a spokesperson for Westminster police said the mom was backing out of the driveway with two other children in the vehicle when the accident happened.
"She was taking other children in the home to school and at this time we believe it was a tragic accident," said Investigator Cheri Spottke.
The child was pronounced dead at the scene near 8601 Zuni St., which is inside a mobile home park.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were involved, but are trying to determine exactly how the young girl ended up behind the vehicle.
"We always just suggest taking your time, slowing down making sure you're checking all of your mirrors, looking over shoulder double checking," Spottke said. "Don't be in a hurry because that's when all accidents happen."
