THE FORECAST AT A GLANCE: Not a bad morning for a run. Runners taking part in the Colfax Marathon in downtown Denver on this morning are enjoying a mild and dry run. We have a few clouds out there this morning, but those clouds will clear up and give way to a mainly sunny skies and a warm afternoon. Highs will spike into the low 80s in Denver, about 10 degrees above average. Isolated showers are possible around the Denver area, but the better chance for showers and storm will be east of Fort Morgan and Limon.
The far Eastern Plains could see a few severe storms, with damaging hail and strong winds the main concerns with any storms that develop this afternoon on the far Eastern Plains.
Skies clear out for tonight ahead of a stronger system moving in tomorrow afternoon.
A sharp cold front pushes through Colorado on Monday night, and that'll potentially lead to some stronger storms on Monday evening across northeastern Colorado. At this point, it's too early to say what we might (or might not) see in the metro area, but the threat for stronger storms will be highest east of town. We'll keep you posted with the latest on this possible severe weather risk as it gets a bit closer.
Tuesday will be cool, gray and rainy and perhaps stormy behind the front. Highs will probably be stuck in the 50s, about 15 degrees below our seasonal average.
In the mountains, that same system will lead to a solid thumping of late season snow for Tuesday and Wednesday. 3-6 inches (or locally more) of snow looks likely above 9,000' in elevation in the high country on Monday night and Tuesday.
A ridge of high pressure moves back in for the end of the week, and that'll allow temperatures to climb back above average across most of the state with only a few shower and storm chances for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
In the meantime, keep an eye to the sky over the next few days, especially on Monday and Tuesday!
