Spotty evening showers, with storms to the east

Spotty evening showers, Wednesday, with storm chances across the northern plains.

DENVER — THE FORECAST BY: Meteorologist Laurann Robinson

FORECAST HEADLINES: A mostly sunny, breezy, warm start to our Wednesday, with highs in the upper 60s/lower 70s across the eastern half of the state.

A front pushing in from the northwest is bringing scattered snow showers across central and northern portions of the high country, Wednesday afternoon.

As this system pushes eastward, we'll watch for increased cloud cover and spotty rain showers across the front range/eastern plains, Wednesday evening. Storm development is possible across northern portions of the eastern plains, under a MARGINAL risk for severe weather. Small hail, gusty winds, locally heavy downpours, lightning and thunder will be the biggest concerns.

Thursday, we'll start the day with some early sunshine, ahead of partly cloudy evening skies. Highs drop a bit, into the lower 60s, with a slight chances for a pop-up afternoon shower.

Storm chances return for the eastern plains, Friday afternoon, as the rest of the state stays mostly dry. Highs return to seasonal numbers, in the middle to upper 60s.

For the weekend, enjoy sunshine and warmth! Afternoon temperatures climb into the upper 60s Saturday, then into the upper 70s Sunday.
