|
VIEW SLIDESHOW ![]() Renewable Energy Systems Americas, Inc. (RES-Americas) announced it will move its headquarters from Austin, Texas, to Broomfield. The company, founded in 1997, is a national leader in renewable wind energy and is actively working to develop 12 percent of the installed wind power capacity nationwide. RES-Americas cited geographic proximity to its other operations, a high standard of living for its employees and a supportive business and political atmosphere for renewable energy efforts. RES-Americas has regional offices located in Portland, Ore., Austin, Texas, Minneapolis, Minn., and one across the border in Montreal, Canada. Of the 140 jobs, 70 will be relocated from the company's former Texas-based headquarters. The other 70 jobs are planned to be filled by local hires, according to RES-Americas. Currently, the company employs 160 people in the US and Canada. "I am pleased to welcome Renewable Energy Systems Americas to Colorado's New Energy Economy," stated Gov. Bill Ritter in a news released issued by RES-Americas. "Colorado's robust renewable energy industry, skilled workforce, and rich natural resources have recently attracted several companies to Colorado, bringing good jobs and revenue to our urban and rural communities. They are helping us to be more energy, environmentally and economically secure. RES-Americas is another tremendous example of how Colorado is being recognized as a national and international leader in renewable, modern energy." RES-Americas is currently developing one site in Elbert and Lincoln Counties, the 300 MW Cedar Point Wind Project, which could produce enough clean, renewable energy to power 81,000 homes once it is complete, according to company officials. The company's projects also bring hundreds of construction jobs to local economies. (Copyright KUSA*TV, All Rights Reserved)
