The crash happened just before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday near Wolfensberger Road and Highway 105.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the glider's operator, Michael Baldwin, 44, of Littleton, was killed. No one on the ground was injured because of the crash.

Baldwin was the Executive Vice President of the OppenheimerFunds Inc. and was President of OppenheimerFunds Services, Inc., based in Centennial.

"Mike was passionate about flying as he was about many things in life and business and we will all miss him personally and professionally," said John V. Murphy, Chairman and Chief Executive of OppenheimerFunds in a prepared statement. "On behalf of everyone at OppenheimerFunds, I extend our deepest sympathies to his family."

Both the NTSB and the FAA are investigating.
