Harriet is now about two months old, but I visited her when she was just a month.

She is precious. When you visit the exhibit in Primate Panorama, you really have to look hard to find Harriet. She spends a lot of her time nestled inside her mom's chest.

As the days pass, Harriet is getting daring and crawling up on her mom's back. At 6 months, she will venture off on her own.

Harriet's appearance won't change too drastically as she ages. However, her brother Sawyer is in the middle of his transformation. The males in this species of Saki Monkey have white faces and black coats. The females are brown in color.

White-faced Saki Monkeys are native to Brazil and Venezuela. They spend most of their time in the trees and get around very well from branch to branch. They even sleep in the trees.

Saki Monkeys have a high-pitched squeak that ends in a "chucking" noise which they use to communicate to one another. They are very aware of what's going on around them.
