Woman loses house to fire, builds church
|
ARVADA - A 93-year-old woman lost her house to a fire earlier this year, but she has now gained a church. ![]() On Feb. 24, sparks from a train started the fire in Arvada. High winds pushed the flames across Margery Kusulas's property and burned her house. The Union Pacific Railroad paid her for the damage, which helped her realize her life-long dream of having a church on her property. "Years ago I stood out here and I called this Mount Zion from what I had heard in the past, so I would think, 'I've got to have a church here some day.' And so when the fire happened I had the money to do it," she said. She's been living in a motor home on her property since June 13 and hopes to be in her new home by the end of the week. The new home is in the basement of the church, which will be named Mount Zion Church. (Copyright KUSA*TV, All Rights Reserved)
