DENVER BUSINESS JOURNAL - Denver-based H5 Data Centers announced Tuesday it is expanding to downtown Albuquerque.

The data center operator said it plans to build a data communication site, called a carrier hotel or edge data center, at 505 Marquette Ave. NW.

"505 Marquette is Albuquerque’s most interconnected access point," said Josh Simms, founder and CEO of H5 Data Centers, in a statement. "Cloud service providers and content companies increasingly require low-latency access to networks and digital partners. Due to its geographic location and affordable operational costs, Albuquerque is well positioned for continued IT infrastructure services growth."

Edge data centers are smaller enterprise data centers designed to handle local traffic and move data rapidly through a region.
