You can stream 30,000 independent movies and documentaries all through the magic of your library card.

With a new service announced by the Denver Public Library on Monday, you can sign up to use Kanopy for free with your library card and watch up to eight movies a month for free!

The titles run the gamut - classics like the original Night of the Living Dead, Saturday Night Fever and An Officer and a Gentleman; newer releases like My Friend Dahmer, Loving Vincent and many more; and documentaries from all over the world.

For those intense movie buffs, they even have an extensive Criterion Collection selection.

So, how do you watch all these movies and documentaries (without spending a single dime) thanks to the library?

The Denver Public Library lays it out pretty clearly on their site, but all you really have to do is head to denver.kanopy.com and enter your library card number and your password (usually the full year of your birthday). The rest is just following the instructions on the screen.

You can watch on your computer, but here's the best part: you can access Kanopy from your favorite device: your iPhone, Android, Apple TV, Roku and even Chromecast.

Now, for all your Arapahoe and Adams County residents wondering about this" unfortunately, it's only for Denver County residents.

We want to reiterate: you get up to eight movies a month and, once you use one of your eight (8) credits, you have three days to watch the movie as many times as you want. Credits reset at the beginning of every month.
