DENVER — Woods Boss Brewing Co. is growing its footprint.

The brewery, located at 2210 California St. in Denver’s Five Points neighborhood, has applied for a brewpub license to take over the vacant space next door to its current brewery and taproom.

The space that Woods Boss is taking over used to be occupied by Carbon Cafe & Bar and Habit Doughnut Dispensary, which closed in 2022. A taco restaurant called El Rey de la Mesa opened in Carbon’s place, but that has since closed, leaving the space vacant.

Woods Boss owners Chad Moore and Jordan Fink opened the forest-themed brewery in August 2017. The brewery has an event space called The Lodge in the same building. The owners did not return multiple requests for comment.

Woods Boss was one of 300 Denver businesses that applied for a federal grant to help with the negative impacts that homeless encampments have had on businesses. Woods Boss received $15,000, according to Denver Economic Development & Opportunity’s website.

The brewery’s hearing with Denver’s Department of Excise and Licenses is scheduled for April 5, according to signage at the site.
