2 shot, 1 killed in Aurora

AURORA, Colo. — A man died and a second man was injured in a shooting Monday night in Aurora.

Officers with the Aurora Police Department are investigating the shooting which happened in the 14000 block of East Iowa Drive. The shooting was first reported around 6:30 p.m., according to police.

Two people were transported to the hospital. Police said in an update Tuesday morning that a man had died in the hospital. His death is being investigated as a homicide. The other victim is expected to survive, according to police.

Witnesses told investigators a white or gray Nissan Frontier, or similar-looking pickup, sped away from the scene after the shooting. Investigators are asking for the public’s help with more information about the pickup.

The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office will release the identity of the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
