DENVER — The Colorado Avalanche have traded forward Kurtis MacDermid to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for a seventh-round draft pick and the rights to forward Zakhar Bardakov, the club announced Friday.

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound Bardakov, 23, has played the last four seasons in the KHL, where he registered 21 goals, 23 assists and 171 penalty minutes in 156 regular-season games. He added 1 goal and 4 assists over 26 playoff games during three consecutive postseason runs with SKA St. Petersburg.

During the 2023-2024 season, the Seversk, Russia native recorded 6 goals and 6 assists and collected 78 penalty minutes in 51 regular-season games, ranking 11th on the team in goals and first in PIM. His 78 PIM also ranked second in the KHL.

Bardakov represented his country at the 2021 World Junior Championship, where he posted 1 goal and 1 assist in seven games.

"Zakhar is a hard-working, active center who brings speed and physicality to any lineup," said Avalanche General Manager Chris MacFarland in a statement. "He is a team-first player with a strong compete level and a highly committed defensive game."

MacDermid, who turns 30 on March 25, has played very sparingly this season with the Avalanche. He has averaged just over five minutes of ice time in 29 games, scoring two goals and racking up 23 penalty minutes.
