EAGLE-VAIL, Colo. — Colorado State Patrol (CSP) has arrested a man accused of fleeing the scene of a crash that seriously injured a skateboarder in Eagle-Vail earlier this month.

According to a release from CSP, a 35-year-old man was riding his skateboard westbound on the shoulder of Highway 6 in Eagle-Vail at around 5:30 p.m. on April 19.

Someone leaving the parking lot of Highway Country Healing, a marijuana dispensary, struck the man, severely injuring him, the release says. The driver left the scene of the crash.

That driver was identified by CSP on Saturday as 23-year-old Ethan Hatch of Vail. He's facing charges for failing to remain at the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury – a Class 4 felony, and failure to yield the right of way.

The victim was brought to Vail Health for treatment. He was there for several days before being released, according to CSP.

Formal charges are expected to be filed by the Eagle County District Attorney’s Office in the coming days.Hatch is cooperating with investigators, according to the release. He has since been released on a $7,500 bond.

The investigation is ongoing.
