Two men have been charged in connection to a fight and shooting a the Town Center in Aurora Friday evening.
The third man involved in the fight is in jail as well, but on separate outstanding warrants and is not facing charges related to the mall shooting, according to Aurora Police.
Keshaun Thomas-Dunn, 19, and Devonte Shead, 20, are facing charges after a fight reportedly escalated near the food court of the Town Center mall just before 2:45 p.m. Friday afternoon. Shots rang out and police were called from all over the city to respond.
Thomas-Dunn was arrested for possession of a weapon by a previous offender and aggravated assault. Shead was arrested for attempted second-degree murder.
Aurora Police said in a release that they won't name the third person behind bars as his charges aren't related to the fight and shooting from Friday.
Two of the three involved were brought to local hospitals - one for injuries from the fight and one because a bullet grazed him, police said. Both injuries were minor.
Aurora PD got to the mall at 2:45 p.m. after an initial call that made it sound as though there was an active shooter there. According to a police spokesperson, officers on scene quickly learned it was likely just an isolated incident in the food court.
Witnesses helped officers quickly identify all three suspects in the case.
Due to the original nature of the call, Aurora Police responded in force with a citywide response - which was quickly calmed.
Parts of the mall were still shut down during the investigation, but all stores remained open.
