Pickup truck of missing 87-year-old man found crashed into railcar

Search parties will mobilize on Friday morning to look for 87-year-old James Mitchell. The public's help is not needed, according to Golden Police.

Despite an extensive search effort Friday morning, police are still looking for a missing 87-year-old Arvada man who possibly suffers from dementia.

James Mitchell's pickup truck was found abandoned Thursday morning, crashed into a railcar in Golden. Blood was found inside the truck cab.

Search crews spent Friday morning searching several miles of paths, trails and residential areas, but were unable to locate Mitchell.

Officers went to Mitchell's home on Thursday, where they didn't get an answer. They also contacted his son, who confirmed his father was missing.

James is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. He has blue eyes and thinning gray hair.

He was last seen wearing a blue fleece vest, red plaid short-sleeved shirt, khaki cargo pants and black athletic shoes with Velcro closures.

Mitchell possibly suffers from dementia and does not have any identification or a cell phone with him.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Golden Police Department at 303-384-8045.
