A vigil is being held Friday in remembrance of a woman whose body was found near a road in Clear Creek County last month.
Investigators say Queen Ashby, 20, was murdered in early April at 1433 Joliet Street in Aurora. Her body was discovered on April 8 near Colorado State Highway 103.
The Friday night vigil is being held at Utah Park in Aurora at 6 p.m.
Organizers are asking those who would like to attend to either a shirt in remembrance of Queen or a jean jacket. Candles will be provided.
Authorities identified a suspect in Ashby's death on Thursday. Shawrae Butler, 21, was arrested by the Aurora PD Fugitive Apprehension and Surveillance Team at a home in Aurora Friday afternoon.
Initially, investigators were not able to identify Ashby when her body was found by a motorist.
They reached out the public for help, and after dozens of tips were made to the CBI and the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office, the body was positively identified.
Anyone with information about Butler’s whereabouts is asked to call Aurora Police at 303-627-FAST or Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP.
