Members with the Denver Fire Department rescued a woman and her dog from an island in the middle of a lake Thursday afternoon at City Park.
A concerned passerby called 911 to help after noticing distressed woman stranded in the middle of Ferrell Lake.
According to Denver Fire, the woman chased her dog, who'd gotten loose and run out onto the ice. The ice began to break and the woman was able to get to the small island in the middle of the icy water.
Fire crews launched a boat to rescue the woman and her dog from the island. No injuries were sustained. Captain Greg Pixley of Denver Fire wants to remind people about the dangers of chasing pets onto ice.
