The Evergreen Cougars pose with the championship trophy after winning their second consecutive state title on Saturday, March 10.

It was the same matchup, the same stage and the same result.

For the second consecutive year, the Evergreen Cougars girls' basketball team beat Pueblo South in the state title to repeat as champions in class 4A.

Evergreen led the entire game on its way to a 46-38 victory Saturday at the Denver Coliseum.

Senior Claudia Dillon was terrific per usual, dominating in the paint on her way to a team-high 13 points.

Meriel Hahn added 12 points, while Kristina Scheiber and Baylee GalanBrowne pitched in 9 apiece to help the Cougars win back-to-back titles.

Drea Nelson was fantastic in defeat for the Colts (18-10), netting a game-high 14 points for Pueblo South.

Evergreen took a 25-18 lead into the locker room at halftime and never looked back, dominating the glass and scoring several second-chance points on offensive rebounds.

With some late free throws, the Cougars sealed the win as chants of "back-to-back" echoed throughout the Denver Coliseum.
