Crate and Barrel recalls benches because they can tip over

The benches have caused broken toes, a broken foot and a fingertip amputation.

Crate and Barrel is recalling nearly 7,000 benches because they can tip over.

The recall involves Dakota wooden benches sold at Crate and Barrel stores nationwide and online from September 2011 to November 2017.

The benches can tip over while in use, posing a fall hazard, according the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. There have been seven reports of the benches tipping over, including four injuries involving broken toes, a broken foot and a fingertip amputation.

Consumers should stop using the benches (sold in 51-inch and 71-inch versions) and contact Crate and Barrel for a free repair.
