KUSA — Although spring has sprung in Colorado, there is still time to get outside and enjoy the winter snow at the annual Cardboard Classic in Steamboat. Spring festivals are beginning with the Honeybee Festival in Palisade. Sports fans will enjoy the home debut of a Colorado baseball team this weekend. From rodeo to monster trucks to expos in all corners of our state, there's lots to do this weekend in Colorado.
Palisade International Honeybee Festival — Palisade
The annual Honeybee Festival is back in Palisade for a 10th year. The festival celebrates Palisade's agricultural roots and brings attention to the threatened honeybee population. Held at the Towne Plaza in downtown Palisade, the festival runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. There will be music, live demonstrations, food vendors and kids activities. Colorado Springs Sky Sox vs. Round Rock — Colorado Springs
Spring and baseball go hand in hand. This weekend the Colorado Springs Sky Sox are home at Security Service Field for the first time this season and are hosting the Round Rock Express. Fans will enjoy fireworks on Friday, free magnetic schedules on Saturday and 50¢ hot dogs on Sunday. The Colorado Springs Sky Sox are the Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers. Rocky Mountain Rollergirls — Denver
Smash 'em up speed, powerful hits and a drag out fight for the win on roller skates: Rocky Mountain Rollergirls, Colorado's first flat track roller derby league, will host its only home team dogfight to be played at the Fillmore Auditorium this season. Saturday's doubleheader includes United States Pummeling Service vs. the Sugar Kill Gang and Dooms Daisies vs. Red Ridin' Hoods. The playoff-bound Colorado Mammoth are hosting their 9th annual Lacrosse Out Cancer night on Saturday when they host the New England Black Wolves. The Mammoth's special jerseys were pre-auctioned with the proceeds going to cancer-related charities in Colorado. During Saturday night's game, fans will be able to participate in a silent auction featuring game-worn, Lacrosse Out Cancer gear from the players. Over the past eight seasons, the Mammoth have raised over $100,000 for local cancer-related charities. Faceoff on Saturday is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Pepsi Center. Denver Independent Comics & Art Expo — Denver
The Denver Independent Comics & Art Expo is back for a third year at the McNichols Civic Center in downtown Denver. The two-day event showcases comic books, graphic novels, small press, zines, design and alternative art forms. Pikes Peak Food, Wine & Beer Expo — Colorado Springs
The 23rd annual Pikes Peak Food, Wine & Beer Expo will be held on Sunday at the Broadmoor World Arena. The event features a brewer's row with 15 local breweries, a chef's competition, craft cocktail competition, silent auction and prize giveaways. Denver Home Expo — Denver
The Denver Home Expo provides an opportunity to get ideas for home renovations, design trends, remodeling, gardening and full home automation. Toughest Monster Truck Tour — Loveland
The toughest monster trucks - including the one-and-only Bigfoot - are back in Colorado this weekend. The three shows at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland feature Bigfoot, Dirt Crew, Dragon Slayer, Kamikaze, Quad Chaos and Snake Bite. The newest production at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts is about two pairs of neighbors whose friendship is tested when they realize their shared property line isn't where it's supposed to be. One neighbor is afraid of losing his prized garden, another wants what is legally his. Cardboard Classic — Steamboat Springs
Steamboat's traditional rite of spring, the Cardboard Classic, is back for a 38th year. This hilarious race features homemade crafts made of cardboard, glue, string, paint, duct tape, masking tape, balloons and other decorations. Competitors race down Stampede to a hysterical finish. The Interweave Yarn Fest is all about exploring your passion for the fiber crafts of crochet, knitting, spinning and weaving.
