While most celebrations Sunday focused on human mothers, one duck mom had a little party of her own.
The Loveland Fire Rescue Authority got a call about some ducklings trapped in a storm drain, said battalion chief Michael Cerovski.
Sunday, being a particularly slow day, they took the call. Loveland resident Don Oft captured the harrowing rescue on video.
In the video, the parental duck bravely stood by while firefighters – and even a dog – surrounded the drain cover.
“The mama ducks and papa ducks are usually patient because they know we’re there to give them a hand,” Cerovski said. “But I don’t know. I don’t speak duck.”
