First Colorado babies born in the new year

Some families are celebrating the new year with new additions to their families. Here are the first babies born in Colorado in 2019.

Some families are starting off 2019 with brand new additions. Hospitals have a friendly competition to see which one will welcome the first baby of the new year. 

So far we've heard from two hospitals about their New Year's Day births.

Joaquin Ethan Vigil was born at 12:13 a.m. Tuesday morning at SCL Health, Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge. He weighed 6 pounds 9 ounces.

He's pictured above with his parents Carmella and Richard Vigil and his older sister Luzon. His grandmother Cindy also helped celebrate his birth early Tuesday.

Myra (only her first name was provided) was born at SCL Health, Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver at 1:02 a.m. Tuesday.

She's pictured above with her mom Connie, dad Marc and big brother Charles. She's wearing an adorable pink crown that was crocheted by a labor and delivery nurses at Saint Joe's who made crowns for all the New Year's babies.

Joseangel Zacarias Estrada was born 1/1 at 2:48 a.m. at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital.

Joseangel Zacarias Estrada was the first baby born at UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital. He was born at 2:48 a.m. and weighed 6 pounds 10 ounces. He has a three-year-old brother and a six-year-old sister.

Divina May Lu Oldham arrived at 3:10 a.m. at SCL Health, Platte Valley Medical Center in Brighton. She's pictured below with her mom Tera and dad Shane.
