DENVER — Colorado's biggest parade and brightest holiday tradition returned for a 49th year on Dec. 2.
The 9NEWS Parade of Lights marched through the streets of downtown Denver on a warm Decemeber evening with an audience of thousands awaiting the arrival of Santa and the holiday season.
The holiday parade began in front of the spectacular Denver City and County Building before snaking through downtown Denver on a two-mile route.
The parade featured more than 40 illuminated floats, helium-filled character balloons, marching bands, equestrian units and cultural entries, as well as a special appearance from Santa Claus.
The 9NEWS Parade of Lights dates back to 1975 and has grown into the largest and most-watched parade in the Rocky Mountain region.
The Colorado holiday tradition was produced by the Downtown Denver Partnership and presented by American Furniture Warehouse and Intermountain Health.
