Brown Palace hotel temporarily closing Palace Arms restaurant

The Palace Arms, located inside The Brown Palace in downtown, said it will stop serving food this weekend while renovations are completed.

DENVER — A legendary Colorado hotel is temporarily closing its marquee restaurant while it undergoes a "reimagining."

The Brown Palace will close its Palace Arms restaurant on Saturday. It's expected to reopen by May 18.

The hotel's ownership group said they are working on renovating the hotel by "weaving in fresh and modern offerings, alongside upholding many of the time-honored traditions that the iconic hotel is known for."

They said this includes temporarily closing the restaurant while it "undergoes a reimagination to better reflect the experiences diners are currently seeking."

They said they will host an open house to show off the updated restaurant and its new menu on May 18.

Palace Arms has been headed by Executive Chef Kim Moyle. The Palace Arms restaurant is known for its "Napoleonic artifacts and elevated decor" with a dinner, cocktail and wine menu.

Other dining options at the Brown Palace include Ellyngton's, Ship Tavern, and Churchill cigar bar, which will continue to operate as normal.
