Fireworks will be back in Denver this New Year's Eve

Construction on the 16th Street Mall will change the viewing area for firework displays that will ring in the new year in downtown Denver.

DENVER — The sky will light up once again over downtown Denver on New Year's Eve.

Denver will launch two firework shows on Sunday, Dec. 31, in the heart of downtown.

The firework shows will begin at 9 p.m. and midnight to help ring in 2024. The identical firework displays run for about eight minutes.

This year, the fireworks can be seen near the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel and near the middle of downtown near Curtis Street.

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will again offer free bus and rail service on New Year's Eve.

Starting Sunday, Dec. 31, at 7 p.m. through Monday, Jan. 1, at 7 a.m., RTD fares will be free.

This is the 15th year the free ride service will be available on all RTD services including bus, MetroRide, MallRide, light rail and commuter rail.

RTD and its partner Molson Coors ask New Year's Eve revelers use the free service to celebrate responsibly and safely. During last year’s New Year’s Eve Free Rides in Denver, over 48,000 individuals took advantage of complimentary transit to welcome the new year.

In addition to Denver, Molson Coors’ New Year’s Eve Free Rides program will also be offered this year in Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Milwaukee, Phoenix and the Twin Cities.

“RTD’s continued partnership with Molson Coors once again allows revelers to use the entirety of the system at no cost on New Year’s Eve,” said General Manager and CEO Debra A. Johnson. “As you make plans for this evening, consider that RTD can serve as the designated driver. We will deliver you to and from your destination, allowing you to celebrate worry-free.”
