LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The City of Lakewood will not hold an Independence Day fireworks display once again in 2024.

Lakewood will instead have a drone show during its annual Big Belmar Bash.

The Independence Day celebration will be held Wednesday, July 3, around the Belmar Plaza at 439 S. Teller St.

The city said in a news release that its drone light show "promises to be bigger and better than before."

"Witness a fleet of 300 cutting-edge drones adorned with state-of-the-art LED lights and prepare to be amazed as they illuminate the night with a stunning array of colors and effects," the release said. "Due to popular demand, the drone light show will be extended this year, providing an unforgettable experience for all."

MIX 100 will provide a curated soundtrack for the drone show at 100.3 FM or Mix100.com.

Festivities, which also include food and drink vendors, live music and kids’ activities, begin at 5 p.m. with the drone show at dusk or around 9:15 p.m.
