Bike to Work Day takes place all over the country, but only in Boulder (as far as we know) is there Tube to Work Day, and it’s on Wednesday, July 11. This fun, exhilarating and unique community event combines nature, adventure, costumes, and alternative transportation.

BYO tube, helmet and closed-toe shoes (all mandatory). Wetsuit and life jacket are strongly recommended. And please leave phones and wedding rings at home — or at the office.

Advance registration is required to tube, but participation is free, as is spectating from bridges and banks (including the “cheer station” at 6th St.).

Tubers put in at Eben G. Fine Park at 8 a.m., with live music and free breakfast and hot coffee available for participants at Central Park (just after the Broadway bridge). After all is done, awards go to the best costume and the best tube.
