Whataburger opens first Colorado location not in Colorado Springs

After making its return to Colorado in 2022, Whataburger has opened a restaurant location north of Colorado Springs.

MONUMENT, Colo. — Whataburger is continuing its growth in Colorado with a new restaurant south of Denver.

Whataburger franchisee BurgerWorks Colorado, LLC opened its first Monument restaurant location Tuesday morning.

Located at 17889 Fat Tire Dr. with a double drive-thru and an outdoor dining area with a turf yard, the restaurant is the first Whataburger in Colorado not located in Colorado Springs.

Whataburger said the restaurant's exterior features Whataburger’s "signature orange and white with corten metal to blend in with Monument’s rustic charm." The restaurant will employ 100 jobs in the Monument area.

"Our guests here in the Pikes Peak region have been phenomenal in their support of our brand. We’re definitely feeling the love," BurgerWorks Colorado owner William Tamminga said. "We’re so excited to bring more bold, fresh Whataburger flavors to Monument at our newest location at 17889 Fat Tire Drive."

The new Monument location will have 24/7 drive-thru service. Its dining room will be open Sunday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and 24 hours Friday and Saturday. The breakfast menu is available from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m.

Guests can also order curbside or pickup service through the Whataburger App and online. Delivery is available through DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grub Hub.

The Texas-based burger chain returned to Colorado for the first time in decades in 2022, opening three locations in Colorado Springs. Whataburger now has six locations in Colorado Springs and a seventh in Monument.

Whataburger began as a stand in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the 1950s and has since grown to more than 1,000 locations in 15 states.

The franchise once had a presence in Colorado, including a location on 88th Avenue in Thornton that became Jim's Burger Haven.
