KUSA — A storage and moving company in Denver was shut down by the state of Colorado, leaving customers who stored their property there to scramble or risk having their items trashed.

Colorado's Public Utilities Commission -- the state's regulatory arm for utilities and facilities -- revoked the permit for Special Ops Storage and Moving Company in July. According to a release from the PUC, the company lost its permit because it didn't pay a civil penalty fine.

The company’s warehouse, located in Denver's Globeville neighborhood, was seized by the property owner (Everwest Property Services) last week, the release read. Special Ops personnel no longer have access to the property.

Customers who still had items in the company's warehouse were told they had to get their items by 5 p.m. Monday; otherwise, the release said, their property may be disposed of.

The release from the PUC also says those involved with the company are barred from having a Colorado household goods moving permit for three years.

Special Ops Storage and Moving Company is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau and there are several warnings on the agency's website that allege the company had a "pattern of consumer complaints."

9NEWS sent a crew to the warehouse on Tuesday where a cleaning company was working.

Although the deadline for customers who needed to retrieve their items passed on Monday, the best point of contact for people still in limbo appears to be Kristie Allen of Everwest Property Services on behalf of Rose Properties LLC, according to the release. Her number is 303-248-7201.
