Media mogul and talk show host Oprah Winfrey has invested in True Food Kitchen, a fast-growing Phoenix-based restaurant chain with a location in Denver's Cherry Creek.
The health-conscious restaurant announced Wednesday that Winfrey has acquired an equity stake that will allow it to double store growth.
Financial details of Winfrey's investment were not disclosed. Winfrey also will join the chain's board of directors.
Winfrey was first introduced to True Food Kitchen by friend and health expert Bob Greene, according to the announcement.
"I love bringing people together over a good meal," Winfrey said in a statement. "When I first dined at True Food Kitchen, I was so impressed with the team's passion for healthy eating and, of course, the delicious food, that I knew I wanted to be part of the company's future."
