Colorado has moved up a notch on CNBC's annual "Best States for Business" list.

Colorado moved up to No. 5 on the latest list, up one spot from last year's list.

But with the state's booming economy and low unemployment, CNBC pointed out in a statement that Colorado needs more workers: "With low unemployment, the Centennial State needs more millennials — or workers of any age — to support its great economy."

Colorado scored "A+." "A" or "A-" grades in the categories of workforce, economy, technology and innovation, and access to capital. The state scored a "D+" grade in the cost of living category.

The cable channel said it used 64 metrics across 10 categories of competitiveness to come up with its list (its methodology is described here).

In the 2018 rankings, Texas again ranked No. 1, followed by Washington, Utah and Virginia.
