GYPSUM, Colo. — A suspect has been arrested after a teen died of injuries sustained in an altercation at a park in Gypsum Wednesday night, the Eagle County Sheriff's Office said.
The sheriff's office said just before 10 p.m., they were called to Second Street Park "for a reported disturbance involving several people." When deputies arrived, they found that multiple teens had been involved in an "altercation," and one was seriously injured, the sheriff's office said.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died of his injuries. His name has not yet been released.
The sheriff's office said the suspect, also a teen, left before deputies arrived. That person was apprehended a short time later, the sheriff's office said. Because they are a juvenile, their name is not being released.
Anyone with information that may help the investigation is asked to call the Eagle County Sheriff’s Office at 970-328-8500.
