Teen suspect in LoDo shooting was with man when 5 people were shot, affidavit says

Keanna Rosenburgh, 17, is accused of shooting five people after she was denied entry at a bar in September.

DENVER — As a teenage girl faces 28 criminal counts in adult court, including attempted murder, 9NEWS obtained the arrest affidavit that describes the circumstances leading up to the shooting, the injuries to the victims and how police were able to identify her.

The affidavit also contains details about a man who was seen with the suspect during the shooting

Keanna Rosenburgh, 17, is in custody in Colorado after she was apprehended in California about a month after the shooting Sept. 16 outside Dierks Bentley's Whiskey Row, at 20th and Market streets. Five people were injured in the shooting, which police said happened after Rosenburgh was denied entry to the bar because of issues with her ID.

Her arrest affidavit says a bar security officer “did not believe that the suspect was the same person on the driver’s license” she handed over. The ID belonged to a 25-year-old woman with a different name, according to the affidavit.

“She was not allowed entry into the bar and could not have the driver’s license back,” the affidavit reads.

Soon after Rosenburgh was denied entry into the bar, she was seen on video with a 27-year-old man who is named in the court records. 9NEWS is not naming the man because he has not been charged.

“As she walked away, she pulled a handgun with her right hand out of the chest area of her jacket and fired several rounds into the crowd behind her,” the affidavit says.

The document lists five victims, all in their 20s, who suffered gunshot wounds. Three victims suffered gunshot wounds to the leg, another was shot in the ankle, and a fifth victim was shot in the right big toe. A bullet also grazed the shoe of a bar staff member, according to records.

"I tried to stand up and run and I just couldn't get up. Like my legs were jelly," said Desirae Gomez, who was shot in the legs.

Gomez, 25, is now reliant on crutches and a walker as she heals from a shattered bone and ruptured artery. The injuries have put her medical career on hold.

Before she was shot, Gomez worked as an anesthesia tech in operating rooms while going to school to eventually become a doctor. Some of the patients she helped were gunshot victims.

Gomez said doctors expect her to make a full recovery, however relying on other people for help has been a challenge.

"I have no choice but to ask for help, even like making coffee, driving to the store, bringing groceries up," Gomez said.

"Of course, I was a victim. But I don't like to think of myself as a victim. Definitely more so a survivor. I'm still here," Gomez said, while adding that being positive has been helpful through healing.

Video shows the 27-year-old man was with Rosenburgh “before, during and after the shooting,” including when the two were seen running away together, the affidavit says.

The man seen with Rosenburgh was identified by an off-duty officer who was working at the bar during the shooting.

Later during a police interview, the man “denied being at the bar with any females and stated when he heard gunshots, he was alone and ran away."

That man told police he was denied a one-night-stand at another bar by a different woman and met “another girl while he was standing in line” at Whiskey Row.

Records show police seized the man’s cellphone after his phone rang and an image popped up that “resembled the physical characteristics of the suspect.”

Records indicate numerous Crime Stoppers tips identified the shooting suspect as Rosenburgh, who was apprehended in California on Oct. 19.

Online records show Rosenburgh is being held under a $500,000 bond.
