Teen arrested on child sexual exploitation charges in Arapahoe County

John Van Der Bosch, 18, was arrested on suspicion of multiple felonies, and there may be more victims, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said.

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, Colo. — A teen accused of harassing and extorting underaged victims on Snapchat was arrested Wednesday, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office said.

John Farnsworth Van Der Bosch, 18, was arrested on suspicion of:

  • Seven counts of felony sexual exploitation of a child
  • Felony criminal extortion
  • Felony aggravated cruelty to animals

Investigators determined that Van Der Bosch was sexually exploiting children and in possession of materials containing child sexual abuse, according to the sheriff's office.

He was booked into the Arapahoe County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

Investigators believe there may be additional victims who were harassed, extorted or exploited. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 720-874-8477.

Anyone with information can also call Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or visit metrodenvercrimestoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. 

Metro Denver Crime Stoppers works by assigning a code to people who anonymously submit a tip. Information is shared with law enforcement, and Crime Stoppers is notified at the conclusion of the investigation. 

From there, an awards committee reviews the information provided and, if the information leads to an arrest, the tipster will be notified. Rewards can be collected using the code numbers received when the tip was originally submitted.
