Woman killed, 3 arrested after chase ends in crash, Aurora Police say

The suspects were taken into custody after the moving truck they were in got stuck in the area of E470 and Pena Boulevard, police said.

AURORA, Colo. — Three suspects were arrested following a chase and crash after a woman was killed in a shooting early Friday morning, Aurora Police said.

Officers responded just before 3 a.m. to the 14600 block of East 2nd Avenue for a reported shooting and found two people with gunshot wounds. They were both taken to the hospital, where one later died.

The woman who died was identified as 24-year-old Theresa Burke.

A patrol car pursued three suspects who sped away from the scene in a moving truck, police said. The suspects tried to run after the truck crashed and got stuck in the snow near E470 and Pena Boulevard in Denver and were quickly arrested.

On Tuesday, police identified the suspects as Cameron Mooty, 31, Stephan Cherry, 32, and Corey Allen, 26. All three are being held on second-degree murder charges, police said.

Police said Mooty was shot at some point during the incident. They said it's unclear when he was shot, but it was not during his contact with officers. He is still being treated at the hospital as of Tuesday evening, police said.
