Students in thousands of schools across the United States plan to participate in a national walk out in protest of gun violence on Wednesday,

The walkouts are sparked by last month's shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that killed 14 students and three staff members.

The first large-scale, coordinated national demonstration is planned for Wednesday, when organizers of the Women's March have called for a 17-minute school walkout.
