DENVER —

Former Valor Christian standout and current NFL star Christian McCaffrey is raising funds to support Denver's frontline healthcare workers as they deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

McCaffrey, who currently plays for the Carolina Panthers, launched an effort last week to support medical workers throughout the Carolinas. Beginning Thursday, funds will also be raised to support Denver workers.

After ‘22 and You’ raised hundreds of thousands from more than 500 individuals and corporations in a matter of days in the Carolinas, McCaffrey decided to include his home state in the effort.

‘22 and You’ encourages fans, supporters and the people of both the Carolinas and Colorado who are able to give, to join McCaffrey in supporting their community’s healthcare workforce by pledging $22 or any amount they can.

Donations are being collected online at christianmccaffrey22.org and can be designated specifically to Denver, or to the Carolinas. All gifts will directly support the needs of healthcare workers during this difficult time.

UBS Financial Services in Denver joined the effort and has committed to helping fund the effort through a corporate contribution, as well as donations pledged by its employees.

‘22 and You’ identified Denver Health Foundation, the fundraising arm for Denver Health and Hospital Authority, as the recipient of funds. Having grown up in Colorado, and as the son of former Denver Broncos player and current University of Northern Colorado (UNC) coach Ed McCaffrey, Christian is eager to support healthcare workers in Colorado, while continuing to do the same in the Carolinas.

“A week ago, I launched ‘22 and You’ to support frontline medical workers in the Carolinas, and I’ve been blown away by the support that this initiative has received,” said McCaffrey. “I’ve heard from so many in my home state of Colorado that they would welcome the opportunity to support healthcare heroes in Denver, and so I made the decision to expand the effort here.”

The Denver Health Foundation supports Denver’s only integrated health care system, whose mission is to support the health and well-being of Denver and the Rocky Mountain region.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Denver Health is swiftly addressing what needs to be done in a rapidly evolving environment. Since the costs far outpace the public funding available to meet this crisis, the need is more critical than ever.

“We are so grateful for the support of Christian McCaffrey’s ‘22 and You’ for Denver Health’s healthcare team during this time of crisis,” said Linda Ford, Executive Director for Denver Health Foundation. “Denver Health is at the center of our community’s response to COVID-19 and our remarkable team of health care staff and public health experts is working around the clock to meet the evolving needs of our city. Thanks to the generosity of 22 and You, Denver Health is able to meet the extraordinary measures needed to overcome this great public health challenge.”
