KUSA — Time is running out for those who want to take advantage of affordable (and some free!) health screenings. This weekend there are eight 9Health Fairs taking place across the state. After that there are only one or two fairs each weekend (except Memorial Day Weekend), with the last one taking place on Saturday, June 3rd at the Fillmore Auditorium.
9Health Fair Will Call You If It's Urgent
Probably one of the most under-publicized aspects of 9Health Fair are the calls made by 9Health nurses if there is anything in your results that needs prompt attention. For instance, if you get a Hemoglobin A1c screening at a 9Health Fair, and your results indicate that you likely have diabetes and don’t know it, a nurse will call you within 24-72 hours.
Right now, our nurses are most commonly seeing critical alerts in thyroid levels, cholesterol, low iron, and diabetes.
Getting Your Results
One of the best reasons for attending a 9Health Fair is that your results come directly to you. Once you receive them, 9Health Fair strongly encourages you to share them with your primary care provider – even if you don’t see anything alarming.
By showing your provider your results each year, they are more likely able to catch a potential health issue by watching how your numbers trend. Even if a number is not out-of-range, a slight change can indicate the onset of a health issue.
