Lakewood officer reconnects with mentors thanks to Next viewers

One of our Good Ones, Officer Ford, wanted to get in touch with his role model, Officer Ritchie. Our Next viewers found him.

An officer in Lakewood just reconnected with one of his mentors after a story about him aired on 9NEWS.

Officer David Ford started a program called, "Shop with a Cop" that provided a Christmas gift shopping experience to kids whose family can't afford gifts.

During our interview with him, he spoke of an officer who inspired him to be the person he is now. That person was Officer Ritchie who used to be with the Lakewood Police Department and worked in the DARE program.

Officer Ritchie is retired and lives in Michigan.

Thanks to that information from our viewers, Officer Ford was able to get in contact with Officer Ritchie. They are planning to meet up in the fall in Colorado.
