In October, 9Wants to Know first reported about how the CyberKnife cancer treatment and was not covered by Medicare in Colorado.
Doctors who perform the procedure say it has the same success rate with fewer side effects.
Colorado's Medicare contractor has now decided it will pay for CyberKnife.
The change was made by a ruling in January and since then CyberKnife treatments at Denver CyberKnife in Lone Treehave gone from three to five prostate cancer patients a month to more than 20 to 30 patients a month.
CyberKnife was approved by the FDA about a decade ago.
Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men. According to the Centers for Disease control, more than 220,000 American men were diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2007 and nearly 30,000 died.
