Adams County deputy hurt in crash after driver runs red light, CSP says

A vehicle ran a red light and hit the deputy's cruiser Thursday night, a spokesperson for CSP said.

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — An Adams County deputy is banged up after a vehicle ran a red light and hit the deputy's cruiser Thursday night, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

The Adams County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) said the deputy went to the hospital but was awake before being transported. CSP said the deputy was a "little banged up but should be okay."

The crash happened at 74th Avenue and Dahlia Street in Commerce City when a driver ran a red light and in the side of the deputy's vehicle has the deputy was driving through the intersection, a spokesperson for CSP said.

One person in the car that ran the red light went to the hospital, CSP said. They don't know that person's condition and they also don't know how many people were in the vehicle.

CSP is taking over the investigation.

Just last week, another ACSO deputy was involved in a rollover crash on Interstate 70 near Watkins. That crash happened on March 19 when there was heavy snow and strong winds which caused near zero visibility on the highway.

The deputy was also awake and talking before being transported from the scene.
